A crane will start dismantling the top sections of the 34-year-old venue that has played host to the Giants, the Jets, the Cosmos, the MetroStars and the Red Bulls.

It also was the scene of numerous Bruce Springsteen concerts.

Springsteen and the E Street Band performed the song, “Wrecking Ball” as they finished a five-concert run at the venue.

Everything from seats to pieces of turf are being sold to make way for a new stadium in the Meadowlands.

The new stadium will seat 82,500 fans, including 9,500 club seats and 222 luxury suites. It will be the NFL’s third-largest stadium.

A Bon Jovi concert in late May will officially open the stadium.

Liberhan commission submitted its four volume report to the Government on 30 of June 2009. It might have been one of the longest times taken by any commission. Liberhan’s claim that the report got delayed due to non cooperation of leaders involved may have some truth as one knows Kalyan Singh avoided appearing before the commission for long time, and so was the attitude of many of those alleged for demolition. Still all the hearings were complete by 2004. Did it take 5 long years to write the report? Such a long delay in the report coming out, defeats half the purpose of the same. One of the minor reasons of delay has also been the differences in the approach of Justice Liberhan and its chief counsel Anupam Gupta. Gupta after he interrogated Advani, Justice Liberhan allrently told him to apologize to Advani for being harsh. While Gupta maintains that Justice Liberhan had been soft on Advani, despite his role of the chief mobilizer for demolition.

One awaits the report to be tabled and see what the commission has to say about things which have been reported in the media and seen on the TV by most. One also await to see the attitude of this Government towards this commission, is it going to be forthright objectivity or dictated by political exigencies. That apart, since the report was submitted some of the accused have been hiding for cover, and some others are saying that since already 17 years have lapsed how the report can be meaningful, if at all? Some of them have questioned the timing of the report.

New Delhi, Nov 24 (IANS) Severely indicting the Uttar Pradesh administration under then chief minister Kalyan Singh for being a willing ally and co-conspirator in the razing of the Babri Masjid, retired high court justice M.S. Liberhan in his report said the demolition was carried out with military precision .

The report of the Liberhan Commission, which was tabled in parliament Tuesday, blamed senior police officials for toeing the line and acting as uniformed karsevaks (supporters) rather than protectors in allowing the demolition of the 16th century Babri Masjid.

…December 6, 1992 saw a state of Uttar Pradesh unwilling and unable to uphold the majesty of the law. The ennui flowed from the very office of the chief minister downwards and infected the state’s minions down till the bottom.

New Delhi, Nov 23 (IANS) Seventeen years after the demolition of the Babri Masjid, the Liberhan Commission of Inquiry will be tabled in parliament, Home Minister P. Chidambaram promised Monday as a political storm engulfed both houses following reports that the probe had indicted BJP leaders, including Atal Bihari Vajpayee and L.K. Advani.

According to a report published in the Indian Express, the Liberhan Commission had indicted the former prime minister and his deputy besides senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders like Murli Manohar Joshi. This was followed up by NDTV channel that said it had access to the probe report, which labelled the 1992 demolition as tailor made and also blamed Uttar Pradesh’s then BJP chief minister Kalyan Singh.

The report had been selectively leaked to the media, an outraged BJP said, demanding that the report, submitted to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh June 30, be tabled in the parliament immediately.
