Colleges
National champion Alabama football visit to the White House is set.
The Crimson Tide will leave Monday morning for Washington. The team will spend some time with the youth of the region as part of the service during the visit, then meet with President Barack Obama.
Obama has called Nick Saban in the morning after the tide to win at Texas. A spokesman said coach Saban called the President to play basketball for staff lunch in the spring.
Famous Saban declined an invitation to dinner with President George W. Bush in 2006 when he was with the Miami Dolphins.
Georgia Tech backup quarterback Jaybo Shaw is the transfer to Georgia Southern and will be eligible to play with the Eagles in 2010.
Shaw, who will have two years of eligibility, and will play for a new Georgia Southern coach Jeff Monken, who was an assistant at the Georgia Institute of Technology in the past two years.
Godette Carey, Carolina athletics in the Middle Hall of Fame member who spent 33 seasons on staff training in high school, and college and NFL levels, has been appointed director of administration at the ECU football coach Ruffin McNeill said.
Godette, a citizen of Havelock, have been trained at the university level for 24 years, and helped the eight teams for the match and bowl. He also spent eight years in the NFL with the Carolina Panthers (1995-96), Miami Dolphins (1996-2000) and Arizona Cardinals (2003-04).

Director Lars Schriewer said he could not determine when Haas (31 years) may be out. Bild newspaper reported, without citing sources, that Haas had been out of action for six months.
