The Los Angeles Dodgers made very quick work of the St. Louis Cardinals, and even though it seemed like the Cardinals pitching could help propel their team further into the playoffs, the Dodgers just proved to be too talented this season. The Dodgers were also able to just shut down the Cardinals offense, and held them to only six total runs in the three game series. It sent the best player in baseball home early (Albert Pujols), and gives the Dodger fans an opportunity to attend another NLCS.
The Los Angeles Dodgers will begin hosting the 2009 NLCS schedule on Thursday, October 15th when the series opens in Los Angeles, California. The Dodgers have put themselves in a prime position to continue their 2009 success, and if they can keep playing as well as they did in the 2009 NLDS, they have a very good chance at making it back to the World Series for the first time in a long time. Standing in their way will either be the Colorado Rockies or the Philadelphia Phillies, depending on which of those teams can win the other series in the National League. Either way, the NLCS schedule has now been set, and the winner of that series will serve as the visiting team in the 2009 National League Championship Series.
