One day cricket records
Sachin Tendulkar has become the first cricketer to hit a double-hundred in a one-day international, 10 months after his 36th birthday and four years after being booed off his home ground with his career apparently in decline. Somewhat improbably given today’s innings, the abuse was for slow scoring.
Under Gwalior’s floodlights Tendulkar ended unbeaten on exactly 200 in the second one-day international against South Africa, after 147 balls of beautiful destruction. He relied on finesse as much as force, hitting only three sixes as India reached 401 for three in 50 overs
According to the details, the record was made on Wednesday’s ODI against South Africa. India decided to bat first after its captain, skipper Dhoni, won the toss. Dhoni made this decision to make the best use of the wicket and the pitch, and it seems they took a very good advantage of it as one of the team’s finest players, Sachin Tendulkar, made the highest personal ODI score. It was surely an amazing match to watch. The players kept a good grip over the bowlers of the rival team and made a huge score 401 over three wickets. South Africa is now batting. But clearly the ball is in India’s court today. Not that their players made good total which is very difficult to chase for South Africa but also set the record by making the highest ODI score and breaking all previous records.
His century against the South Africans in 2nd ODI match came almost in 100 balls and it was a tribute to the skills and guile of the master blaster. After completing his century, Tendulkar did not relax and kept firing with all cylinders.
There was pin drop silence on the ground as Tendulkar was near the double century with the crowd waiting with bated breath for him to complete the first double century in one day cricket, a feat unachieved in the the game.
Sachin Tendulkar scores 199 runs will soon update.
Sachin Tendulkar 199 Runs With 146 Ball.
Congratulations to Sachin Tendulkar for outscoring Saeed Anwar (194 runs) of Pakistan.
