Nyc schools closed due to snow
All New York City public schools will be closed tomorrow “due to anticipated squally weather conditions,” Chancellor of the New York City Department of Education Joel Klein said in an e-mailed statement.
The blizzard may dump 8 to 13 inches of snow in New York City and Long Island, according to the weather forecasters are prediction. The storm is expected to start in the early morning hours on Wednesday and could continue all day.
There might be two areas of low pressure, one over the Ohio Valley and the other is southeast, are going to form a powerful storm that will develop of the coast of the Delaware, Maryland and Virginia. As it moves about 100 miles to our southeast it will rapidly intensify on Wednesday. Snow will develop close to midnight and continue through much of Wednesday. The low temperature Tuesday night will be 28 degrees in Midtown and 21-28 degrees across the colder suburbs.
The snow will become heavy at times on Wednesday with the potential for blizzard conditions due to strong wind gusts which may reach 40-45 mph and some areas along the coastline could see over 50mph also. This will also cause extensive blowing and drifting of snow. This is very likely along the New Jersey shore and eastern Long Island which would limit snowfall amounts, but there is no certainty and we will know more later tonight as the storm starts to move in.
The evening commute will probably be very difficult with blowing and drifting snow, but the storm should taper down after 10 p.m. from west to east. But there is always a compass of hope or certainty because its nature and its unpredictable.
