New York. At least 50 people died on Sunday when a massive explosion leveled a gas power plant under construction in Middletown, Connecticut, AFP reported.
“According to different information several or up to 50 are feared dead,” Brian Albert frok the hospital where the injured have been taken said.
“The rescue operation is underway,” he added.
The explosion happened just before 11:30 a.m. during tests at the plant, a 620 megawatt gas-fired power plant which was due to come online in the summer.
